It used to be I did not get too drunk at
parties. A drink always in hand, my mouth
was occupied solely in trying to entertain

Now I have no buffer between sips. Cups
fall fast, and get filled quicker still. I’ve been told
it’s in the mixing that does it. A beer or two

must not be chased with wine or, god forbid,
bubbly. You know what the answer is concerning shots
so don’t even ask. With you,

with you the conversation was tastier than the cocktail,
I swear, and your tricks made me less blue sans a hangover
the next day.
